How to register a Payoneer account to receive USD as a freelancer
Official signup, your own ID check, USD receiving details, then the first withdrawal to your bank.
To collect USD from a U.S. client or marketplace, use the official path hereink readers can check: sign up at payoneer.com, verify with your own ID, then request USD receiving details.
The query is how to register a Payoneer account to receive USD. This is a licensed payments onboarding, not a bought account. Names must match a government ID. Documents go through the Verification Center.
Whose account is it
Individual
Freelancers and consultants usually pick Individual. Use your passport or national ID and, when asked, a proof of address. Payoneer treats the account as a business payments tool, not a friends-and-family wallet.
Company
A registered legal entity picks Company and adds incorporation papers plus the authorized person’s ID. The choice is hard to reverse. Policy is one account per person or company.
Use your own documents on the official site. Approval is not guaranteed and has no shortcut.
From signup to the first USD
- 1Register on the official site
Open
www.payoneer.comand click Register or Sign Up. Skip look-alike ads. Do not hand the form to a paid “agent.” - 2Pick Individual or Company
Help articles say the business-registration answer cannot be changed later. If you have no company, pick Individual.
- 3Enter details that match your ID
Legal name, date of birth, residential address, email, and your own mobile. Keep the password. Payoneer texts a code to that number.
- 4Upload files in the Verification Center
Sign in, open the profile menu → Settings → Verification Center or Requirement Center. Upload an unexpired government ID. Proof of address is often a utility bill or bank statement, in many places no older than three months. Some countries add a photo ID plus a live selfie. Photograph all four corners; do not crop.
- 5Complete the receiving questionnaire
Describe the services you sell and add a portfolio, LinkedIn, or marketplace profile when you have one. A blank URL is allowed, but review may then ask for a contract or invoice. Every listed item is required.
- 6Request the USD receiving account
After approval, use Get Paid to request receiving accounts. U.S. payers usually send ACH (routing number plus account number). Others may send SWIFT. Official copy: the details behave like a bank account for incoming credits, but they are not a full bank account and cannot be charged.
- 7Withdraw the first payout
Share the details with the client or marketplace. When USD lands, open Withdraw & transfer → Withdraw to bank and send it to a bank in your name. Add the bank and wait for approval first. Review the on-screen fee and FX; the fee page is
payoneer.com/about/fees/. Opening the account is free; withdrawals, conversion, and long idle periods can cost extra.

| Step | What official pages ask | Where files stall |
|---|---|---|
| Signup | Official Sign Up, Individual or Company | The entity choice barely moves later |
| Identity | Unexpired government ID, exact name match | Transliteration, old names, cropped photos bounce |
| Receiving | USD ACH or SWIFT under Get Paid | No shareable details before verification |
| Payout | Withdraw to bank, same-name account | Fees follow the screen and the public fee page |
- A fit
- Freelancers invoicing U.S. or cross-border clients in USD, or sellers already on Fiverr, Upwork, Amazon, and other Payoneer-supported platforms.
- A poor fit
- Personal transfers, unsupported countries, or anyone who needs full-bank credit and cash services. Payoneer is not a full bank.
How long does verification take, and is approval guaranteed?
Help-center copy: often 1–3 business days after every required item is in, or 5–7 if they ask for more. The list changes by country and ID type. Nobody can promise approval.
Is the USD receiving account a U.S. bank account?
Payoneer’s local-receiving page says you get receiving details that behave like a bank account for incoming credits, not a full bank account, and they cannot be charged. U.S. local credits usually travel ACH; cross-border can use SWIFT.
Can I use someone else’s ID or a signup service?
No. Use your own real data. Forged IDs, rented SMS numbers, and bought accounts break the terms, get the account closed, and can be illegal where you live.
